KOTA KINABALU: The standard operating procedure (SOP) requirement that only those who are fully vaccinated can enter business premises will be enforced in Sabah from September 21.
Covid-19 state spokesman Datuk Masidi Manjun said the government in Sabah has decided to allow a one-week extension before the full vaccination requirement for entry to restaurants, cafes, malls and supermarkets is not enforced.
“We are supposed to implement the SOP for people who are fully vaccinated from September 15, but our rate (for the full vaccination) is currently 52%,” he said.
He said the state government has decided to defer implementation of the SOP until 60% of Sabah’s adult population is fully vaccinated.
Masidi said there had also been delays among employees in commerce and industry as well as cafes and restaurants to get their second dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, especially those who received a first injection of AstraZeneca.
He said these employers should apply for a temporary exemption.
“The requests should include the list of employees and the dates they had their first dose as well as the dates scheduled for the second dose. It should be submitted to the relevant local authorities,” he added.
