Ameris Bank has announced the promotion of Andy Thomas to President of Lowcountry Market.

Thomas, who previously served as President of the Beaufort Market, will be based in Mount Pleasant and will lead a team of commercial bankers to support the lending, deposit and servicing needs of businesses in the Greater Charleston, Mount Pleasant, Summerville areas. and Beaufort, an Ameris press release said.

Thomas will remain involved in the Charleston community through his leadership and volunteer efforts, according to the release. He previously served as chairman and commissioner of the Charleston County Parks and Recreation Commission and a board member of the Maritime Association of South Carolina and Kids on Point, which promotes life skills for children from disadvantaged neighborhoods. He regularly volunteers his time to support youth sports and provide coaching and instruction to local small businesses.

Thomas is a graduate of Clemson University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in financial management, the statement said.
